Lesson 12: Concluding Culture
Together, we have made quite a journey through all of the main English speaking countries of the world. What an adventure! After these 10 content classes, you know more about the customs and culture of Great Britain, the USA, Ireland, Canada and Australia. In this lesson, we will conclude and round off what culture means to you, and prepare you to finish this course by making the test assignments.
Lesson planning:
- What do we still remember? - What does culture mean for you? - Cultural diversity - Travel guide |
At the end of the lesson:
- I can summarise what I have learned about culture, and the different English speaking countries that have been mentioned in this course. - I can talk about cultural differences - I can write a travel guide for one of the countries we have talked about during the English culture quest |
In this course, you have learned heaps about different cultures and their customs, but what do you still remember? Take this moment to revisit all of the lessons, and highlight what you deem were the most important parts of these lessons, or what stayed with you the most. After filling this in, discuss your findings with a partner!
In the first class, you thought about your own culture broadly, before you learned anything about the other cultures we have discussed over the past few lessons. Now, with your newfound knowledge, How would you describe your own culture?
Now, after you already had a brief look at the differences in cultures. Prepare a poster which include the differences between the cultures you have learned about the last few lessons. Feel free to use your creative freedom; this means you can either create a poster on paper or using a digital tool like canva.
Make sure you hand in the poster on teams at the end of the lesson!
Make sure you hand in the poster on teams at the end of the lesson!
After learning about all of these different cultures, write a small travel guide about one of these cultures. Where would you like to go? Where would you go sight seeing? What activities would you be doing?
Write around 60-80 words and include the topics listed above. Feel free to add more things. You are allowed to use a creative outlet if you prefer that!
Make sure you hand in the travel guide on teams at the end of the lesson!
To give you an example of how this might look, look at the picture below!
